BBDO Hires Jen Neal as CMO

BBDO Hires Jen Neal as CMO

As of June 1, Jen Neal will replace Marc Goldstein as BBDO's chief marketing officer for North America.  Formerly a managing partner at PHD, Neal brings a diverse work experience to the position, including a prior working relationship with BBDO during joint pitch assignments with PHD.

Neal's client-side experience includes stints at Time Inc's This Old House as brand and ad marketing director and NBA/WNBA as senior director of marketing partnerships.  Before joining Omnicom's PHD, she was group account director at Omnicom's Arnell in New York.

At PHD's New York office, Neal was instrumental in winning new clients like Hyatt and New Balance.  She also handled a wide range of client work including HBO, Reebok, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and Timex.  Neal left PHD in 2008, working as a freelance consultant until the recent hire.

Neal will face the challenge of improving BBDO's performance in acquiring new business.  Although the shop has picked up several new clients recently, BBDO has also experienced the loss of a major account (Chrysler) and unsuccessful pitches for business at Delta and three pharmaceutical brands.  BBDO's organic growth initiatives have fared better resulting in additional work at existing clients Hewlett Packard, Mars, J&J and Bayer.

Neal will be reporting to chief creative officer David Lubars and deputy chairman Troy Luhanen in the New York office.  Former CMO Goldstein will continue to provide pitch assistance and new business development training from his residence in Florida.
